North Carolina A&T State University
State Representative Alma Adams is the newly elected representative from the 12th congressional district to the U.S. House of Representatives. She will be the second woman of color to represent North Carolina in the House. 

For twenty years she has been a member of the N.C. General Assembly, representing the state’s 58th House district (Guilford County). She is chairperson of the NC Legislative Black Caucus Foundation. 

Prior to serving in the state house, Ms. Adams served on the Greensboro City School Board and the Greensboro City Council. She has been a professor of art at Bennett College, director of the Steel Hall Art Gallery, and co-founder of the African American Atelier. She earned a B.S. and M.S. in Art Education from N.C. A&T State University and received her PH.D. in Art Education/Multicultural Education from Ohio State University.
