State Representative Marvin Lucas has represented District 42 Cumberland County for seven terms. He is a member of nine committees. He is Vice Chairman of the Commerce and Job Development Subcommittee on Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Education Committee. He is the primary sponsor of 1,376 bills.
Prior to his service in the House, he served for twenty years as an alderman for the town of Spring Lake and four years as Mayor of Spring Lake. Also, he is a retired teacher and school principal. Representative Lucas earned a B.S. from Fayetteville State University, M.A. from North Carolina Central University and ED.S from East Carolina University.
